Q9. Install the software on personal computer, which Windows 95 is installed, and start the software. Then an error message “Program start error” appears and the program abnormal-ends.
|
A9.
For the early version of Window 95, a specific system file (MSVCRT.DLL) had not been installed. Due to this, it was recognized that FL-PR3 control software could not operate correctly. The lacked software is an auto-installation program, at the time when such Internet explorer 4.0 is installed.
For Windows 98 or later versions, this is installed as standard component.
Measure:
Copy MSVCRT.DLL and paste it to C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM, and reboot Windows.

Q8. We want to purchase FA, but we can not identify the device we want to program is single power supply FLASH micro controller or dual.
|
A8.
To identify the power supply types, focus attention on terminals for FLASH memory programming. You find two types are there.
・Vpp terminals provided: Single power supply FLASH micro controller
・Vpp terminals not provided: Dual power supply FLASH micro controller
For further details, please refer to the user’s manual or NEC Electronics.

Q7. GUI software can not start correctly.
And/or “TIME OUT” error occurs when execute GUI software.
|
A7.
Please see “If GUI software can not start correctly”, the manual P.13. And check for the factors. If no factors can be applied to, there is possibility of corruption of a part of the firmware in the programmer.
For that case, please refer to the followings to overwrite the firmware.
・For FL-PR2
・For FL-PR3

Q6. We purchased an FA adapter but we can not connect, with certainty.
|
A6.
For the interface between FA adapter and Flashpro, please refer to this example for Target interface circuit.

For terminal treatments of devices, please refer to NEC Electronics or consult with our distributors.
|
Q5. For an item “Multiple Rate” of TYPE settings, what kind of function is provided?
|
A5.
“Multiple Rate” is provided to set the multiplier circuit of the clock embedded to micro controller. If the micro controllers have no multiplier circuit or not intend to use micro controller’s multiplier, set this to 1.00.
|
| Q4. What kind of attention should be given to connect Flash programmer and Target? |
A4.
Precautions on the connections are as follows.
About connecting with Target
If execute FLASH memory programming by using UART or SIO, connect SI(Rxd), So(TxD) signals of Flashpro to SI(Rxd), So(TxD) signals on Target. At that time, match input and output of the SI,SO signals.
Flashpro-side DEVICE-side
For the signal lines of FLASH memory programming, they should be isolated from other devices by using jumper switch, etc. (If not so, some miss-operation may arise.)
If the clock supplied from Target-side to the micro controller, CLK signal should be opened.
If UART is in use, SCK signal should be opened.
If I2C is in use, SO signal should be opened.
For FL-PR2, VPP2 (N.C.) should be opened at all times.
For FL-PR3, H/S signal should be opened when the mode is not in the handshake.
About Power supply
The power supply output from FLASF PRO, that is for FA adapter operation.
For On-board programming, Target should supply the power supply.
(Set the setting of power supply select switch to USER VDD-side.)
|
Q3. We want to supply the arbitrary clock to FA adapter.
|
A3.
If you desired to supply the clock Flashpro can not supply (FL-PR2:12.5MHz, 6.25MHz, 3.125MHz, 1.5635MHz/FL-PR3: 16MHz, 8MHz, 4MHz, 2MHz), mount an oscillation circuit (capacitor or quartz oscillator) on FA adapter. (If an oscillation circuit is mounted on FA adapter, CLK signal should be opened.)
|
Q2. Please show us the example of Target interface circuit.
|
A2.
An interface circuit sample of UART (asynchronous communication port) and 3-wire system (synchronous communication port) clock is shown as below.
(Click here to go to NEC FLASH micro controller programming manual.)
Note:
・Resistor values inscribed here are as examples, and they are not for the mass-production oriented design.
・For Reset, prevent to be ON accidentally. Careful considerations must be given to this.
・VDD terminals should be connected because Flashpro should sense Target voltage.
・For terminal treatment, please refer to the applicable device data sheet, etc.

|
Q1. We want to program by On-board. Please give us the level of signals not in the programming operation.
|
A1.
If use power supply and clock, which are on Target Board, each signal level should be as below.
Serial signals (SI, SO, SCK) should be pulled-up by VDD, so they should be HIGH (VDD of Target Board) at the time of Target Board powered-on.
Other than when in programming operation, RESET signal should be LOW level. So, FLASH micro controller should be in Reset status.
Other than when in programming operation, Vpp signal should be LOW level.
